CHARACTERISTICS12L14 –12L14 bar is a standard resulfurized and rephosphorized grade carbon Steel, and a free machining steel. The added lead to the chemical composition provides improved machinability. Although the machinability is very good, the added lead content reduces the overall strength of this alloy.
APPLICATIONSTypical applications include high-speed screw machine products, spindles, bushings, hose fittings and many other items where excellent machining characteristics can be fully utilized.

AISI 12L14 Leaded, also known as 230M07 Pb/EN1A Pb. A low carbon mild steel with added lead. Properties: free cutting, suitable for machining using both automatic and CNC machines. Available in square, round, flat or hexagon form.

SAE1215 / EN1A Fast cutting steel is considered the standard screw stock. Cutting speeds and machining characteristics are excellent. SAE1215 / EN1A is a resulphurized and rephosphorized free machining steel, commonly referred to as screw machine stock. SAE1215 / EN1A is an improved free machining steel that has replaced the Bessemer B1113 grade years ago. SAE1215 / EN1A is especially suited for automatic screw machine operations where the major requirement is exceptional free-machining quality with a smooth, bright finish.
AISI 1215 / EN1A is a Standard Resulfurized And Rephosphorized grade Carbon Steel. It is composed of (in weight percentage) 0.09%(max) Carbon (C), 0.75-1.05% Manganese (Mn), 0.04-0.09% Phosphorus (P), 0.26-0.35% Sulfur (S), and the base metal Iron (Fe). Other designations of AISI 1215 carbon steel include UNS G12150 and AISI 1215.
SAE1215 / EN1A was developed for manufacturing numerous parts requiring considerable machining, close finish tolerances, and a bright smooth finish, ideal for screw machine stock. Can also be used for bushings, inserts, hydraulic hose fittings, couplings, studs, pins, etc. Beyond ordinary machining, it will respond well to roll threading, nibbing, and some minor bending without cracking. It is not recommended for forming, ordinary bending, or upsetting, nor for parts subject to severe fatigue stress.
Machineability and Weldability Machinability is rated at 136% of B1112. Average cutting speed 225 ft/min. Because of SAE1215 / EN1A has very high sulphur content, weldability is considered poor.

Product Details:

20MnCr5 is a case-hardening steel with low carbon content but good hardenability reaching good wear resistance due to high surface hardness after hardening. The small grain size benefits in good ductility and fatigue strength. Suitable for gearboxes and axle gears.

20MnCr5 is an alloy steel, carburized steel, high strength and toughness, good hardenability. The resulting performance after heat treatment is better than 20Cr. Quenching small deformation, good low temperature toughness, machinability better; but the welding performance is low.

Generally used in the carburizing quenching or quenching. For the manufacture and re-load of large parts of quenched and tempered parts and small cross-section carburized parts, but also for the manufacture of medium-load, the impact of smaller small parts, instead of 20CrNi use, such as gears, shafts, spindles, , Worm, governor sleeve and so on.
